Answer #1
  • The major components of social structure include culture, social class, social status, roles, groups, and social institutions. Social structure guides people’s behaviors. A person’s location in the social structure (his or her social class, social status, the roles he or she plays, and the culture, groups, and social institutions to which he or she belongs) underlies his or her perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors.
  • People develop these perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors from their place in the social structure, and they act accordingly. All of these components of social structure work together to maintain social order by limiting, guiding, and organizing human behavior.
  • Social structure is not static. It responds to changes in culture, technology, economic conditions, group relationships, and societal needs and priorities.
  • Society, Social Structure and Social Interactions are the basic foundations which lead to the development of groups and organizations within a framework of like minded people. It all starts with the social structure which contains the social class i.e. the measure of place which a person occupies with in a society and then the social status and prestige falls in.
  • Then the social status characters define either a person had taken up the status due to his birth in a better class or had put a lot of efforts in it in order to build the reputation.
  • As the groups are formed then there are few people who have to take charge of the group in the forms of leaders.
  • Also stereotype is always there as the other people always hold a certain assumption in their mind in regard of the particular group which has already been formed.
  • If we look at the types of groups and specially the primary and secondary groups, we come to know that the primary groups are the people with whom we feel a strong deep sense of belonging or may be the intimacy. This could include our family, spouse etc.
  • On the other hand the secondary group refers to the people with whom we have a less interaction as compared to family and we don’t have a strong bond of intimacy.
  • Social structures and cultures are founded upon social interactions. By interacting with one another, people design rules, institutions and systems within which they seek to live. Symbols are used to communicate the expectations of a given society to those new to it, either children or outsiders. Through this broad schema of social development, one sees how social interaction lies at its core.
