They are modified buds, scales are modified leaves. staminate :-A staminate cone contains the male reproductive structures that produce microspores. ovulate:- An ovulate cone contains the female reproductive structures that produce megaspores. Microsporangium:- The microspores develop into pollen grains that are released from the microsporangium. megasporangium:-Megasporangia produce megaspores, which give rise to female (egg-containing) gametophytes.
