Answer #1

Piaget's theory of cognitive development's third stage is the concrete operational stage. This stage lasts around seven to eleven years of age, and is characterised by the development of organized and rationale thinking.

Limitations of the concrete operational stage: The main limitations of this stage is as follows:

  • They don’t develop theories about abstract concepts, thoughts, or relationships.
  • Children learn concrete operational thought largely on their own by exploring their physical environment or by asking themselves questions and finding answers.
  • Criticisms of the concrete operational stage are that children’s abilities are underestimated, research shows less consistency with Piaget’s stages, some children have demonstrated concrete operational thinking before age 7, some abilities may develop for children at a later time
