There are few skills that are
transferable in terms of communication skills such as, advising,
explaining, persuading, public speaking, translating, articulating,
instructing, presenting, training and writing and editing. Some
skills are related to speaking, few to writing and few others for
both. In my opinion,explaining and persuading are
more important while writing response essay and paper.
- Explaining – As one is writing a responding to someone else’
writing, it’s important to explain what’s right and what could be
improved. Explaining involves throwing some light to make the other
person understand that we have a point to make.
- Persuading – One of the key skills required in both speaking
and writing is persuading. It’s about making one believe that what
you write is right. This involves both the writer to whom one is
addressing and to the general public who will be weighing the
difference between both and choose what’s more appealing to
them.
