I think that anti-depressants such as SSRI's are safe and effective when used correctly. I think that because in the book it says the only side effects of those drugs are nausea, nervousness, weight gain, and sexual dysfunction and none of those side effects are dangerous. (Grison 2017) I also know from observing people that I know personally, that anti-depressants such as Prozac are effective. I only agree that anti-depressants are safe and effective when taken correctly. Often times people take more than they're supposed to in a short period of time and then that's when they become not safe and ineffective.
SSRI's are safe and effective if they are taken in the right dosage. Fluoxetine and other SSRI's have shown to be effective for disorders such as Depression, Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Apart from the side effects listed, there are some other side effects such as dry mouth, headaches and sleep disturbances. SSRI's have also shown to increase suicidal ideations among children and adolescent patients of depression. Fluoxetine, if taken in a large dose in a short period of time can cause harm to the person.
