In general, research is evaluated based on whether it's well done, valid and reliable, and useful. Why, then, are open-mindedness and explicitness of assumptions and biases indicators of well-done qualitative research?
In general a research work is appreciated based on its validity and reliability. It is also checked for its appropriateness.
At times when the scope and reach of the research is too high, then there are chances for minor errors and deviations. Not everyone who filled the questionnaire or answered the interview questions will be telling the truth and there will be always room for errors.
So in most cases no research work is 100% true, so it is important that the researcher reveals these assumptions and biases in order to make the research and research results more appealing and genuine.
