Continuous variable is that variable which can take value between two values, whereas discreet or categorical varaibel is that varaible which has only vertain value. Eg, if we want to research wheather taller people are smarter then if we taken min inches of tall as 62 and find that 82 inches is the highest, we may have many of them lying in betwen 62 and 82. Whereas if we want to study child having more siblings are smarter. Then asking a mother about no. of sibling would be fixed no. eg mother having 4 kids, 2 kids etc.

Ans1) It depends upon research why income is being mesureis this a dependent varaible. Hence depending upon research it can categorical as well as continous varaible.

Ans 2) Happiness is continous varaible, People vary in degree of happiness, Happiness differs from situation to situation in a single day. It varies from person to person
