Aristotle makes the argument that we must know what constitutes the good life before examining questions of justice/right while Rawls thinks the question of the good life can be determined by each individual with government remaining neutral (right is prior to the good). What is at stake in this argument and which side do you ultimately agree with?

Answer- According to Aristotle, we must decide our purpose of life, the telos and then our good life will be established. After deciding the purpose of our life, we can create laws that promote the aim of our life. On the other hand, Rawls thinks that we must have rights and moral laws before deciding what the good life is. I think Aristotle is correct with the idea that the purpose of politics is to moderate economic exchange and cultivate good character and good citizens. He focuses on freely choosing self because we can frame a good constitution after figuring out the best way to live.
