Racism, while considered one of the sociological factors in influencing people's lives, it may translate into a much bigger problem if and when it comes to the health and safety of people as a whole. This can be understood with an example, in situations where there is a pandemic like covid-19 if there is racism in the society then two major problems will occur firstly the oppressed race will not be treated equally and with adequate attention leading into an outbreak on community level. The second problem would be the increased risk of infection to the other races by the oppressed race when they come into contact. Both the contributing factors can result into a public health crisis as it would become impossible to handle and prevent the spread of a disease if an isolated group of people are stopped from availing the necessary health services.
