personal power comes from the persons` unique characteristics which can be from their expertise and from the respect of others .

1. if you will be given the chance to choose between expert power and referent power which would you prefer to have?

1. I would choose expert power.

2. Referent power can arise out of different factors like respect, affection, admiration, friendship, etc. But when it comes to using our power to accomplish group goals or do the duties of a leader, I feel that expert power will be beneficial. Expert power is based on our skills and knowledge and not about the charisma of our personality. Expert power will always remain as there will be proof for our expertise and knowledge in our actions. On the other hand, every one may not like the person you are and factors like rumours can affect your referent power.
