Explain, from a psychological standpoint, how to support a claim that company should be concern about how customers might outgrow themselves with the smell of Febreze's NOTICEable and Glade's fragrances because of sensory adaptation. Be sure to include at least two features of human sensation or perception in your response.
Sensory adaptation is process in which sensitivity to stimulus reduces after a constant exposure to it. This means that the customer who finds the smell of Febreze's NOTICEable Vanilla and Cream soothing and pleasant may soon not be attentive to this stimulus of pleasant smell, same could happen for the Lemon Fresh fragrance of Glade. They also may not find these fragrances pleasing and soothing even in the initial exposure because of the continous exposure to it.
The sensory adaptation as such occurs because our brain directs us to focus on other important sensory stimulus of the environment, as, hitched to one sensory stimulus may cause hindrance to focus on the other sensory inputs. This, also, helps the individuals to carry out their normal tasks of daily life after getting exposed to overwhelming sensory input, attending it, and dissipating it.
