This week's readings introduce us to the notion of risk tolerance, particularly as it affects intelligence analysis. Should intelligence be more or less risk acceptant in intelligence production? How far should managers allow analysts to "go out on a limb" in their analysis? Explain your thinking and comment on at least one classmate's answer.
Studies of risk perception examine the judgments people make when they are asked to characterize and evalute hazardous activities and technologies. This research aims to aid risk analysis and policy-making by providing a basis for understanding and anticipating public responses to hazards and improving the communication of riskinformation among lay people, technical experts, and decision-maker.This work assumes that those who promote and regulate health and safety need to understand how people think about and respond to risk.Without such understanding. well intended policies may be ineffective.
The Positive and Negative affect at work mediate
personality effects(Emotional Intelligence) on job satisfaction.Participants were 523 educators who completed the Wong Law Emotional Intelligence Scale, a version of the job affect scale and the General Index of Job satisfaction. Results using structual equation modelling indicated that positive and negative affect at work substantially mediate the relationship between El and job satisfaction with postive affect exerting a stronger influence. In males, affect at work fully mediated the EI effect on job satisfaction.Among the four EI dimensions, use of emotion and emotion regulation were significant independent predictors of affects at work. The results confirm expectations deriving from Affective Events Theory regarding the role of work affectivity as an interface between personal and work attitudes and extend thw literature on EI effects in organizational settings
A response is thus a particular case of interation between the external world and the subject, but unlike physiological interactions, which are of a material nature and involve and internal change in the bodies which are present, the responses studied by psychology are of a functional nature and are achieved at greater and greater distances in space (perception, etc.) and in time (memory, etc.) besides following more and more complex paths (reversals, detours, etc.). Behaviour, thus conceived in terms of functional interaction, presupposes two essential and closely interdependent aspects: an affective aspect and a cognitive aspect.
