Briefly comment on the accuracy and usefulness of the "metre rule fall method" to estimate the average reaction time of a person.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The "Metre rule fall method" is not very accurate and useful due to following facts:

(A) The metre ruler which is allowed to fall between the index and thumb of a person during this method just has velocity of free fall.

(B) This velocity is sometimes smaller compared to real life velocities such as when a person is driving a car and suddenly meets an accident.

(C) So, the reaction time of a person under this condition is quite different than that of ruler or metre drop or fall method.

Kindly like if it helped :)

Thank you!!!
