21. PROTON RECOIL TELESCOPE

  Proton recoil telescope can be used to measure neutron spectra in the range of 2 to 160 MeV .It is composed by an active multi layer of segmented plastic scintillators as a neutron to proton converter by two silicon strip detectors and by a final thick CsI(Tl) scintillator

The Proton recoil telescope is based on the detection of recoil proton in the elastic scattering of neutron on a thin hydrogenated target.The simultaneous measurement of both proton energy and recoil angle allows to determine the initial neutron energy.
