what is the relationship between bending loss and temperature in optical fibre ? Explain in details

Answer #1

Optical fibre is a medium to transport electromagnetic waves and signals. it's been widely used in this era of communication. It's a medium which is about lossless.

The optical fibre has to part by construction the inner core and the outer shell. Signal propagates inside the core using the phenomenon of total internal reflection. by increasing and decreasing the temperature we make change the refractive index of the material used in the optical fibre, which may change the critical angle of that material for asa wave. This may affect the transmission of signal.

We can wind The optical fibre in a particular direction and in a restricted way. we can pass signals through it when its bended. But much bending may tamper the material and affect the transmission. We may loss our desired output signal, deu to lack of proper reflection.
