What is the relationship between hepcidin and different types of anemia?! Explain in details
High level of hepcodin blocks the iron absorption in intestine and macrophage iron recycling, also causes iron restricted erythropoiesis and anemia. the low level of hepicidin supports bone marrow iron supply for hemoglobin synthesis and RBC production. It is instinctive that persistently high level of hepicidn, by blocking iron absorption, cause iron deficiency anemia because of decreased iron supply to erythropoiesis. Conversely, ineffective erythropoiesis characterizes the so-called iron-loading anemias that have low hepcidin levels and iron overload.
