how is a hot cup of tea with thermal energy cools down

how is a hot cup of tea with thermal energy cools down

Answer #1

Temperature is the measure of energy or we can say thermal energy which is due to heat. We know that heat flows from higher temperature to lower temperature so as to set it self in stable state and every body in the universe tries to reach the stable state. So here in this case the temperature of the tea is more as compared to the surroundings hence the temperature will start to flow from tea to surrounding hence doing so will reduce the temperature of the tea. This process will happen till the temperature of the tea becomes equal to the Surroundings to reach equilibrium. This is how that tea becomes cool.

Tina is going to make iced tea by first brewing hot tea, then adding ice until the tea cools. Ice, at a temperature of −10.0°C, should be added to a 3.70 × 10−4 m3 glass of tea at 95.0°C to cool the tea to 10.0°C. The glass has a mass of 0.350 kg and the specific heat of the glass is 0.837 kJ/(kg·K). Specific heat capacity (15.0°C) of water is 4.186 kJ/(kg·K) and heat of fusion of water is 333.7...

If you slide down a rope, it's possible to create enough thermal energy to burn your hands or your legs where they grip the rope. Suppose a 35 kg child slides down a rope at a playground, descending 1.0 m at a constant speed. How much thermal energy is created as she slides down the rope? Assume that all potential energy can be transformed into thermal energy.

A person makes a quantity of iced tea by mixing 500 g of hot tea (essentially water) with an equal mass of ice at its melting point. If the initial hot tea is at a temperature of (a) 96 C and (b) 66 C, what is the temperature and mass of the remaining ice when the tea and ice reach the same temperature?
