During exercise like walking, we need to give a force against friction to get a forward motion with constant velocity, here sum of workdone by frictional force and given force will be zero since frictional force equal to given force. Hence sum of workdone ((f.s)) will be zero.
If we move with additional acceleration (or additional force)we have to do extra work which results loss of energy from body for nothing, hence it is advised to do exercise with constant velocity.
