Answer #1

Type of project where commissioning would be critical:
Oil and gas plant or thermal power generation plant

Once the construction phase of plant is completed it is very important to check the output of plant according to the input provided, which is done during the commissioning phase.
If commissioning is not done, hazardous situation can be created in the plant.

Type of project where commissioning would not be critical:
Project related to construction of building or bridges

Here commissioning is not required as the project involves creation of a structure according to project plan. It is created for convenience of society and its residents. Here the output of project is comfort of the society member which is not necessary to be measured immediately through commissioning.

Required information Chapter 17 Case: Reducing Ambiguity in Business Requirements The number one reason projects fail is bad business requirements. Business requirements are considered “bad” because of ambiguity or insufficient involvement of end users during analysis and design.     A requirement is unambiguous if it has the same interpretation for all parties. Different interpretations by different participants will usually result in unmet expectations. Here is an example of an ambiguous requirement and an example of an unambiguous requirement: • Ambiguous requirement:...

An electric utility is considering a new power plant in northern Arizona. Power from the plant would be sold in the Phoenix area, where it is badly needed. Because the firm has received a permit, the plant would be legal; but it would cause some air pollution. The company could spend an additional $40 million at Year 0 to mitigate the environmental problem, but it would not be required to do so. The plant without mitigation would cost $270.70 million,...

For this project, you will make decisions about how two parameters (proportions or means) compare using hypothesis tests, and you will estimate the difference between the two parameters using confidence intervals. For each confidence, report the following: the confidence interval limits rounded as directed (from StatCrunch) An interpretation of the confidence interval (e.g. "I am 95% confident ... .") Here is a template for reporting the answer for a sample confidence interval problem. Sample problem: Find a 90% confidence interval...
