Discuss your recommendations for future offerings of PMAN 635, including teaching style, the Team Project, CSAs, reading materials, MSP, course organization, emphasis of the course, etc.
If you could leave a note to the students who enroll in this class next semester, what would you advise?
Overall, I thought the course was well structured for the amount of information it covered. I think it gave a very comprehensive overview of the field of project management. I think the biggest piece of advice I could give to future students is to be prepared to spend more hours than you expect on all the work and be prepared for a significant amount of group work. The textbook was very good and did a really good job at explaining a lot of the concepts. I think 1 CSA as we had this semester was fine, but any more than that would be very difficult to juggle considering the group project lasts the entire semester. I also wouldn’t have been opposed to having an additional individual assignment instead of the CSA. The sample group project was extremely helpful, as was the one posted in the Session 6 discussion later on in the semester. It was a great resource throughout the span of the class.
I think the biggest recommendation I have is to provide more guidance with MSP. My impressionis that the majority of the students are new to the program and figuring out how to use it for certain project tasks was time-consuming and difficult. Something like a step by step video with voiceover could have been helpful for things like inputting data to perform the EVA and things relating to resource level and crashing.
