Do you believe that the different functions of law are all equally important? Or are one or some more so than others? Why or why not?
There are four different functions of law namely:
All the above functions are equally good. There is no function that is better than the other. The functions critically state that the law is a legal system to protect the community of people from any harm or evil. The law promotes common good such as forgiving, settlement, no revenge, etc. The disputes among the relatives or neighbors are resolved without any bias in the legal system and this promotes harmony among the community members. It is because of this law that people are encouraged to do the right thing, for example, the law habituates the people in doing the right thing. Another classic example is avoiding drugs and leads a disciplined life. Thus, all the functions are equally important for the community development which is pertinent for the economic development of the country. It is mandatory for a country to have strict legal system to maintain law and order in the community. It is only because of the four functions of the legal system, crimes such as sexual abuse and harassment are immediately taken action on. Otherwise, there will be only chaos, disharmony and unhappy and aggravated people in the country.
