Social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn has many advantages and disadvantages. However, the HR department of a company may not use it because of certain disadvantages. Social media does not provide the emotional connect and decreases face to face communication skills. They do not convey authentic expression of feelings. As interpersonal communication is reduced, social media does not assist in understanding and thoughtfulness towards others. It can also cause unwanted distractions. It is difficult to post targeted messages towards certain users on social media.
