Explain the Pyramid of Corporate Social Responsibility. Provide several examples of each "layer" of the pyramid. Identify and discuss some of the tensions among the layers or components. How do the different layers of the pyramid "overlap" with each other? In your view, what is the single strongest argument against the idea of corporate social responsibility? What is the single strongest argument for corporate social responsibility? Briefly explain.
The Corporate Social Responsibility Pyramid consists of four levels. The four groups have physical , legal, ethical and philanthropic aspects. Company obligation is efficient and profits are maximized. Definitions of the economic layer are firms that market their goods at equal prices to increase their business members' profits. The next degree is legal responsibility that complies with all laws and all regulations. An example of legal liability is that businesses which do not comply with the law and do not comply with it cause harm to society, as all businesses have legal obligations to obey.
Ethical obligation is the third layer of the pyramid, which is right, equitable and honest. Prevent damage. The Whole Food Market and other supermarkets that only sell such foods which are known to be organic and non-GMOs is an example of ethical standards. Ultimately, it means being philanthropical, a good citizen of the business. Chick-fil-A is a corporation that performs philanthropic duties. The organization is running foster homes, sponsors a summer camp of over 1,900 students annually. More than thousands of students have won college bursaries. Growing of these elements is an integral part of CSR and can not function without each other. For CSR to operate, each layer in the pyramid is required. The voltage is created and overlapped by the economic aspect that goes through each layer and induces voltage, which overlaps also into the next layer.
I assume that global competition is the greatest statement against the principle of social responsibility. The notion of rising the price of goods in the foreign markets to make them less profitable is unacceptable. The countries in which these items are sold are unfair to the local people. The best reason for corporate social responsibility is that it does not control the government. Enterprises have rules, standards and procedures to discourage government interference. The government will not have to fill any voids if companies remain aligned.
