Types of production:

1) Unit or Job type of production- most commonly observed, used by small businesses like restaurants, individual services providers, tailored outfits etc. to produce one single unit of a product

2) Batch type of Production- used in industries like consumer durables, FMCG , FMCD, where there are large variety of products with variable demands, production happens in batches. Total number of units required is pre-decided

3) Mass Production or Flow production- also called as flow production or assembly line production, used in industries like Automobile/ Construction etc. where continuous production is required. Used for standardized products

4) Continuous production or Process production- most of the work is done by machines rather than humans. The production is continuous, 24*7 hours * 365 days. Like in Chemicals/ Food and Beverages industry

Strategy of production:

• Chase strategy- or called demand matching strategy, produce enough goods to meet or to just exactly match the demand for goods. Like Dell uses Just-in-time.
• Level production- the company, based on Scheduling, continuously produces goods equal to the average demand for the goods
• Make-to-stock- goods are produced for stock purpose, even before customers place orders. Used for long production runs
• Make-to-order- produce goods after receiving an order from the customer. example- any custom products
• Assemble-to-order- Example- restaurants/ Cafes. Products get assembled from a stock selection
