Answer #1

1. Effective training programs can significantly improve the attitudes of most whiners. True

Effective training programs result in changing mindset of employees and making them more alinged towards organizational objectives. They are able to move away from their cynicism and see a significnat change in their attitude

2. An internal transfer is often a good option for employees who like to argue with their bosses. False

Not true. Argument can be construed as constructive several times and can lead to resolution of several issues between an employee and his/her boss. Argument if not constructive can also be resolved through interference of HR. An internal transfer is not a viable option and should be taken as an extreme step if the argument is too frequent and resulting in too many negativities in the organization

3. Unfortunately, employees with bad attitudes are unlikely to improve their attitudes. False

Employees with bad attitudes should be trained, counselled and talked to by their bosses to improve their attitudes or find root cause of reasons behind their bad attitude. This could lead to definite improvement in their attitudes

4. Effective leaders use compassionate discipline when dealing with bad attitudes. True

Effective leaders not only are compassionate but also empathetic towards employees with bad attitudes. They try and deal with employees having bad attitudes using this discipline which is very effective in turning their attitudes around and bringing a sea change

5. Effective leaders may put up with some whining from highly productive employees. True

Effective leaders channel the whining from highly productive employees to use it for constructive purposes. The highly productive employees are then guided by these effective leaders to take up more critical tasks which in turn can help them reduce their whining. Hence, effective employees definitely put up with some whining from highly productive employees

6. Unfortunately, training programs seldom significantly improve bad attitudes. True

Training programs although correct in intent do not have significant follow up actions as well as tracking mechanisms to ensure that bad attitudes are getting significantly sorted or not. Some improvement and impact definitely happens but for some significant impact to take place, the training programs need to be more exhaustive with follow-up mechanisms as well as hand holding and tracking from mentors
