In my views, there is no difference in the objective of motivational theory when they talk about paying attention to members of diverse group and ask to identify the individual differences. Motivational theories aim at recognizing the individual triggers that enhance the performance of individual employees and helps the company grow, as a whole. Motivation is the key influencer that decides the course of individual’s performance at the workplace. While paying attention to the diverse groups, we are just trying to make sure that the individuals in the group get ample platform to remain motivated and perform. Talking about individual differences, the set of motivational factors differ from person to person. Hence it is imperative for motivational theory to focus on the individual differences. All these tasks are done with the ultimate objective of keeping the employee motivated and helping him perform at the workplace.

Herzberg’s Hygiene Theory helps in identifying the main factors of job satisfaction and dissatisfaction that impact the performance of the employee in a diverse group. Minimalizing the dissatisfaction factor and working on the satisfaction factor, increases the sense of inclusion for the employee at the workplace and triggers his performance.

McGregor’s theory X, theory Y model helps in increasing the participative style of management in teams. Diversity is encouraged by giving each individual, an important place in decision making for the team and the company as a whole. All these motivational theories help in maintaining diversity across workplace.
