Steps in SMM (Social Media Marketing) planning cycle

There are nine steps in SMM planning cycle

Listening: The company must listen to what people are saying about them. This will help them in setting social media goals and strategies to achieve these goals.

Setting goals: This is done by identifying tastes, behavior and needs of their target customers and doing a competitive analysis to understand its strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats.

Defining strategies: The above information can be used to define strategies individually suitable for the company

Identifying target market: This will help in planning the marketing strategies and focus only on those people who are likely to buy the product and stick with the brand .

Selecting tools: This is accomplished by identifying social media sites where the target market resides and focusing only on those platforms.

Selecting platforms, channels: Platforms are the social media sites like Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter etc where communication happens and channels are the medium of communication like computers, mobiles etc. Platforms which are more relevant to the marketing strategy must be selected.

Implementing: This is the stage where all the above steps are put into action. This is done by keeping in mind the goals, strategies, target audience and specific social media platforms.

Monitoring involves tracking, measuring and evaluating the companies SMM initiatives.

Tuning is doing consistent improvements so as to the marketing goals are successfully achieved.
