How would a software company change its organization structure in ways of decompartmentalization if it had to develop software for different companies?
the organization structure do not changes by a software firm to prepare and produce different software programs for different comapnies. the basic version will be same, based on the process of the firm the structure and processing will be different. for example the transactions happens in a 4 wheeler producing firm are different from a bank, and these two are different from a pharma producing firm.
variety of software programs will be produced by the same people, same department may be in same period or in different time periods. when the people are planning to prepare a software, they take all the inputs, requirements, considerations of the end user firm. based on their needs, nature of transactions, etc, these people will prepare the program. some times the user will send some people on their representative and give inputs to the software preparers.
may be in sometimes, when the preparers do different projects or programs, they may go team wise. for example, TCS is the largest IT producer in India, do many projects for foeign clients, at the same time it also works for Indian clients. the process, the nature, the need, the application, everything may be different, but perform all the programs, for this they did not divide the total firm as indian wing, US wing or UK wing etc. the core activities are peformed by most of the employees, where as the customized activities/transactions will be done by few.
