Q. How does lean manufacturing eliminate waste?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Lean manufacturing can eliminate waste in following ways.

1. It improves communication across the supply chain and thus lowers the average inventory, which is one form of waste.

2. It reduces the waiting time between different processes by balancing the production lines. The reduction in waiting time further reduces customer lead time, which results in Faster turnover.

3. The lean production calls for making as many units as needed at the supply end. It reduces overproduction and thereby preventing the money from being locked for long time.

4. Lean approach redesigns production process and eliminates the activities that are unproductive and thus saves money.

5. Lean manufacturing process minimises the distance traveled by a part / made up item by using appropriate layout, so as to minimise unnecessary movement, that consumes time and other resources without adding value.

Write a function to create a copy of a string with the prototype below. (C Language) char * strcpy (const char *); The function should dynamically allocate the necessary memory for the new string. You can do that with char * newstr = (char *) malloc(sizeof(char) * (strlen(str)+1)); assuming str is your input string. Think though how you would copy the characters of the string, and don't forget about the end of string character.
