The book "Our Iceberg is Melting” focuses on the organizational change and relates to the day to day people issues at work or at personal level. There are eight steps described such as – creating a sense of urgency to deal with the critical problem; selecting a group to guide the change; formulating the future vision; communicate the vision; remove obstacles if any; short term wins; no letting up and make sure on the change established.
The entire process for the successful change is segmented into four blocks with eight steps, such as –
A. Setting the stage by creating a sense of urgency (step 1) and pulling together a powerful group to guide the change (step 2).
B. Deciding on what to be done by developing a change vision and a workable strategy (step 3)
C. Making it happen by communicating to get the buy-in from others (step 4) so that to make sure that everyone understands what has been talked about, understand the need for the change by clarifying the vision and strategy for future reality; empowering others to act upon the expected change (step 5 ) by removing all possible barriers so that the vision can be transformed into reality; this is only possible by having short term wins or visible outcomes (step 6) so that people get motivated; and also to be focused by not letting up, without loosing any patience (step 7) and constant in initiating change one after other to make vision a reality.
D. Sticking to the change by creating a culture by having new ways to work (step 8) and make them stronger to remove the traditional approaches.
