Answer #1

A successful HIPPA change management should involve the following:

  • An up-to-date training should be given on the handling of PHI to the employees who work on health plan administrative functions.
  • Sensitive PHI shouldn't be shared with personal acquaintances and access patient's record by having written permission from the patient.
  • Make a practice not to leave PHI or other important records unattended and the paperwork contains PHI needs to be secured by keeping them in a folder when not in use.
  • Avoid doing e-mail transmission of PHI and it will better to use cover sheet at the time of faxing PHI.
  • Passwords need to be secured by finger print detection or voice recognition. Make strong passwords and do not share them with other members.
  • Your computer should be updated with anti-virus software installed on it.
