Answer #1

ANSWER 1 :

Here we are discussing about the supermarket HEB Supermarket chain.

ANSWER2 :

  • In HEB Supermarket many departments have been stratigically located near each other to induce more purchases .
  • The departments of Pharmacy, Health and Beauty and Cosmetics have been stratigically designated near each other.
  • Other examples could be departments such as Dairy , Grocery and Bakery which have been placed each other strategically.
  • The main reason for designating these departments in co - loacation is based on understanding customer phyche and generating impulse buying (pre plannned, on the spot purchases) and making the customers realise about their needs and complementary products.
  • For instance, a customer who is planning to purchase some groceries would naturally walk towards the nearest section after realising that he/she would also require some dairy procuts as well along with the groceries. This would further lead the customer towards the bakery department as this stratigic placement of bakery allows him/her to realise that he /she also needs to purchase breads which he/she prefers. This leads to additional unplanned sales by the customer and simultaneoulsly making the customer feel that he/she had a better shopping experience.
  • The complementary products are usually co-located. For example: pasta and sauces are kept on adjacent shelves, similarly bread and jams are placed adjacently.
  • In my views, the co-location placement seems to be planned with the objective to promote the sale of the complementary products.

ANSWER 3 :

I have seen that the meat division (crude chicken, hamburger, pork, and so forth.) is kept to some degree far away from the new produce office. The motivation behind this is to augment the exertion of keeping food sheltered and uncontaminated. As everybody knows, crude meat can convey various microscopic organisms; like chicken can convey salmonella and hamburger can convey E. coli. Keeping these offices far separated assists with decreasing the danger of the microbes spreading to the new produce. The produce division and the meat office don't have a similar assistance entryway to bring items out to the racks for the clients.

ANSWER 4 :

A layout of supermarket can be a steppling stone for it's success. All the products are to be timely stocked without any damages in such a way which reflects an organised system resulting in a better display and decision making.

Each section needs to be carefully designed in such a way that every customer has to go through the whole aisle or department while shopping as it would lead to additional unplanned purchases.

For instance,

Products which are planned to be sold more are usually placed at an eye level on the shelves and popular products are placed at the end of the aisle as now a customer has to go through the whole aisle instead of just bying the pre planned products.

Also toys or products for kids aur placed on lower shelves which are in reach of children who can choose the toys or other products acchording to their liking.

ANSWER 5 :

The recommendation would be more spaces between the aisles as when the aisles are conjusted, the customers tend to move at a faster pace to get out of that particular area and purchase less .

Another recommendation would be better lighting in the lower shelves and the corners so as to grab attention of the customers.
