The organization should plan well while going for the creation of the database. The approach towards building the database has to be comprehensive and inclusive as well as a simple approach where all the stakeholders can participate. While when it comes to securing the database the organization must have a complex strategy to protect the database as well as releasing the access to the database. Content, access, logical structure, and physical organization and the most important design elements of the database.

Content: This element deals with what to be stored in the database, what would be the data update frequency, the amount of data to be stored and the type of data to be stored.

Access: These elements clearly define who will have access to the database and who can retrieve what kind of data and how much data can be retrieved by different assigned users. These elements helps in the establishment of government policy in terms of access to data.

Logical structure: The logical structure of the database is determined by the usage of the data, it helps in creating the structures like Data Lake, Data warehouse, or data mart based on the different usages of the data.

Physical structure: This decides on where the data will be stored, on-premise, or on cloud and where will be the servers located and how to keep the backup od the data.

The elements come together to create a robust database that serves the organization's purpose to leverage the database for generating the business and making the operation as smooth as possible. The data governance helps in controlling the access and usages fo the data.
