Answer #1

Solution -

This is about the advertisement rates of a local newspaper with 100,000 circulation. The advertising rates are available on their website as per the size and frequency of publishing. The larger the size or the recurring of the advertisement then larger is the cost. Another aspect is the page on which the advertisement is being published. Advertisements published on the first 3 and the last page costs more than those published in between on the middle pages. Advertisements published on weekends is costlier than those published on weekdays as on weekends the circulation of the newspaper grows by 15%.

The rates are as follows -

$40 for a box advertisement with one day frequency

$200 for a quarter page advertisement on pages no. 4 to 12 on weekdays for single frequency

$300 for a quarter page advertisement on pages 1 - 3 on weekdays for single frequency

$500 for half page advertisement on pages no. 4 to 12 on weekdays for a single frequency

$650 for a half page advertisement on pages 1 - 3 on weekdays for sigle frequency

The rates are 20% higher on weekends

The rates have a discount of 10% if the advertisement is booked for 3 frequency

The rates have a discount of 20% if the advertisement is booked for 5 frequency

Colored advertisement has 10% markup on the rates

For full page advertisement their was a contact number to connect with a sales representative.

It was clear that the newspaper encourages higher frequency advertisements and charges more for larger sized advertisements. The advertisement search was smooth and was clearly mentioned on the website. The search process was clear and the rates were updated. I also got a feeling that the newspaper also encouraged enquiry as their was a column to mention contact details of the user so that the sales representative of the newspaper can contact.
