What is "COMMITMENT TO RESILENCE" as it pertains implications for leaders and managers in high hazard and non-hazard organizations? (managing the unexpected 3rd edition)

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Commitment to resilence is the commitment and eagerness by the management to  keep errors small, improvising workarounds that keep the system functioning, and of absorbing change while persisting. This role requires significant effort by the managers in high-hazard organization where they need to be vigilant and utmost commitment for resilence. E.g. The crash landing of US airline flight 232 showed how resilence worked by the pilots and crew members. In non-hazard organizations this concept is applied but not that much appaling than the hazard organization.
