Talent Acquisition is used to take care of long term specific skill sets needs of any organization by planning and finding appropriate candidates for the organization on longer term to fill in the positions that require specific skill sets. Talent Acquisition makes sure that the organization always have right people to do the specific special jobs .and so keeps the organization upto date on talent front . Not very long ago this job was performed by businessmen themselves in initial stages of their business endeavers as in their initial stages their requirements were very specific and they needed specific skillsets and they thought that since they are most thorough about their requirement they are best qualified to do this job. So they personally used to scout for candidates through references and used to approach candidates directly. Today we have organizations and freelancers who do this job most efficiently and effectively. The thin line which differentiates between recruitment and talent acquisition is recruitment is more about filling up of vacancies and talent acquisition is more about taking care of specific job requirements . Talent acquisition is the current best practice in recruitment selection and is basically strategic in nature as it focusses on tougher positions to fill and it encompasses the following functions :

A. Talent Forecasting : Here forcast is made on current and future specific talent requirement of an organization.

B. Talent Pipelining and Assesment : Here a pool of potential candidates is prepared and assesment is done so as to match the skill sets of the candidates with that of the organization..

C. Potential Talent Career Follow Up : Here a follow up is done on the career of the potential candidates so that they do not go off site and skill setts are regularly assessed

D. Talent Procurement : As the need arises recruitment is done from the potential assessed talent pool .

Best Practices in Recruitment and Selection

Employees form the most important part of an organization and success & performance of any oranization depend upon them . An organization is as good as its employees as employees are its software . So it has never been so challenging in recruitment and selection for recruiting right employees for the businesses who will be most engaged & productive and ensure lowest turnover there by ensuring a healthy brand image of the company amongst the best talents available . This in turn enures that best talent are attracted to the organization and so organization always have best talents working for it. Now to make sure this happens an organization has to adapt best practices in recruitment and selection . What are those ? These are :

A. Training of recruiters : This is to make sure that the recruiters possess the requisite skill sets to recruit and select candidates for the job.

B. Job Analysis : Here the organization has to make sure that job specifications are complete and upto date & they lead to the fullfillment of organizational goals & objectives .

C. Adverising : Here the recruiters have to make sure that hey design he avertisement perfectly encompasing all essentials and choose the right communication channel. (News Paper , Social Medial or 3rd Party recruiter )

D. Communication of Culture of organization to prosepective employees : Here an attempt has to be made by the organization to make sure that employees who are applying are well aware of the culture of the organization before they apply for the job. They should be made aware of vision of the company , mission of the company , core values & traditions of the company .

E. Preliminary Selection : Here a pool of candidates is selected first based upon essential qualifications & experience ( These are essential to the performance of the job ) and then upon desired qualifications & experience (These aid in the performance of the job ) .

F. Background Check on candidates : After preliminary selection background check is done to ascertain the claimed qualification and experience . Only those candidates are allowed further in the process whose credentials are successfully verified.

G. Employment Tests : Here essential requirements are tested by subjecting candidates to tests which check these essential requirements. Apart from essential requirements tests candidates are also subjected to test their atitudes as right attitude is most sought after requirement amongst candidates.

H. Interviews : These are conducted to check in depth knowledge of the candidates and their personality & physical attributes.

I. Medical Examination : Here all atributes of the job are made available to the medical examiner so tha he or she does a thorough medical examination and scrutiny of the candidate from the prospective of the job.
