The glycemic index alone is insufficient to explain the effect of food consumption on blood glucose levels. We often consume carbohydrates with other nutrients (proteins and/or fats) which can alter digestion rates and glucose absorption rates. Many other factors can affect the rate of food processing and absorption—and thus blood glucose levels—as well.

Consider one of the following factors and design a simple but conclusive experiment that would assess how that factor would affect blood glucose levels. • Cooking food • Food processing or preparation prior to cooking • Digestive enzyme concentrations • Metabolic rate of person consuming food

1. Hypothesis:____________

2. Experimental design:___________

3. Expected results:_________

1. Hypothesis: Processed food with rich in calorie and less in vitamins minerals when it goes into blood it will increase the blood sugar level and also responsible for obesity which leads to cardiovascular issues and many more.

2. Experimental design: we took a patient and check his blood glucose level then give him a processed food after sometime he developed symptoms of hyperglycemia like frequent urination, thirst, sweat etc.

3. Result: check the blood glucose level after sometime using glucometer, increased blood sugar level is found hence it can be stated that the processed food containing high calories leads to increase in blood sugar level instantly.
