SIMV ------ Synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation . It is volume controlled mode of ventilation in which spontaneous breath of patients is synchronised with mechanical breaths.

Benefits of SIMV ---------

1. Helps to prevent and maintain respiratory muscle from weakness.

2. Stimulate normal respiration and maintain gaseous exchange.

3. It is used to evaluate ventilatory support level in large span .

4. It is used to control patient anxiety level.

Risks of SIMV---------

1. Their is risk of hypoventilation.

2. Stack of breath can occur.

3. Muscles of breathing become fatigue .

4. It can also lead to dyspnea, even the patient own respiration get stops.
