We inoculate some unknown microbes in EC medium and incubated it at 44 degrees. Some did produce gas which indicates fecal coliforms but some are turbid but no gas? What type of organism do survive in EC medium in 44 degrees that does not produce gas?

ENTEROCOCCUS FAECALIS--it is classified as part of the group D streptococcus system..it is a gram positive bacteria..E.faecalis is a non-motile microbe,it ferments glucose with out gas production..They can grow in the range of 10 to 45degree C and survive at temperatures of 60degree C for 30minutes..It can grow in or on a medium containing sodium azide..like colibacteria,streptococcus are present in human and animal intestines and stomach..can cause diseases such as bacterial pneumonia,ear infection and bacterial meningitis..
