When the baby is born there is dramatic changes happens in the cardiovascular system. When baby takes the first breath the pulmonary vascular resistance will drop occurs due to the air in the lungs.
The fetus is attached to the uterus with the help of placenta, it provides adequate nutrition an oxygen to the foetus.
In fetal period the foetus get oxygen from umbillical cord ,and during birth the umbilical cord get clamped by this time baby don't get oxygen. At the time of birth the baby takes breath of air, the lungs get expand and thevductus arteries and the foramen ovale closes. In fetal circulation the preassurecin the right side is higher than left side. Due to this pressure difference the shunts keeps open .
