Female patient is 68 years old . She is visiting the clinic and letting the nurse know that she has desire to have sex but refuses that because of painful intercourse. Why she is having pain ? This is a medical condition called dyspareunia ( painful sex after menopause)

Pain can be because of hormonal changes, nerve problems,medical illness,emotional disturbance, body image ,dress,anxiety, sore relationship.,vestibulodynia,vulvodynia,vaginisis,pelvic floor dysfunction.

Treatment involves

Medication: low dose vaginal estrogen

Therapies: pelvic floor exercise

Self care: vaginal hygiene keeping it moisturised

Using mild lubricants will reduce pain

Counseling: Health educate about the cause and then its remedy.
