Defecation - Discharge of faeces from the body.
Peristalsis - The process of wavelike muscle contraction and relaxation that pushes ingested food through digestive tract towards the anus.
Role of organs.
Stomach - Stomach secrete acid and enzyme that digest food.
Small intestine - 90% of food digestion occurs in small intestine and its function is to absorb nutrients and minerals.
Large intestine - Milan function of large intestine is to absorb water from the remaining indigestible food matter and transmit the waste material out of the body.
Esophagus - It is a long thin muscular tube that helps food to travel from pharynx to stomach by the process of Peristalsis.
Rectum - It acts as a temporary storage place before faeces is expelled out of the body and to absorb minerals and nutrients the last time before faeces is put of the body.
