a)Dehydration is common in elder people,it may be because of certain medications like diuretics,decreased thirst,decreased kidney function and even with any illness.
Effects of dehydration-head aches,short term memory loss,loss of concentration,lethargy,cognitive impairement, dry skin,dry mouth,digestive problems,decreased urination,weakness,low blood pressure ,shunken eyes etc.
b)suggestions to improve hydration- facilitate water/drinks at reach,
provide different types of fluids at differnt temperature,
provide salads,milk shakes,beverages ,sports drinks at eye sight and accessible,
provide fresh fruit juices and glucose water.
include the menu and snacks containing more fluid contents.
c)dehydration is treated with intravenous fluid therapy,underlying cause also ruled out to treat completely.
