As a patient, does HIPAA allow you to alter your health information records? If so, in what way is this possible?
Yes,as a patient HIPAA allows to alter health information records.
When a patient finds that this/her medical records are inaccurate he/she can file a wriiten request to get it corrected. The covered entity should respond to the request within 60 days and if taking another 30 days they should give written expalnation to the patient for the delay and when it will be done ( an exact date to be mentioned). It they denies the request, they should give that also in writing with the reason for denial, the patient can complain and how they can make a complaint.
