The infections are called  oppurtunistic because they take the oppurtunity to attack you when your immune system is weak. Most people who die of AIDS do not die from the virus itself. they die from oppurtunistic infections. often, people are infected with oppurtunistic infectionslong before they become infected with HIV. Since there is no way to get rid of HIV from the body once someone is infected, most people with HIV will probably still have the virus when they die. ITis considered as fatal.
