1.Elders above the age of 60 years are considered to be senior citizens with lots of benefits through the Republic Act of Senior Citizen (Senior Citizen Act) .This act as made everything most comfortable ,convenient and affordable to all seniors .When it comes to healthcare, it is mandatory to have life coverage, they are given free pneumococcal vaccination ,they have a discount rate on doctor visit ,medicine ,any medical equipment all types of investigation ,even they are provided with the best home care services .They have 20% tax exemption in everything .They get offer from entertainment place to travelling, residence to hotels and restaurants, electricity and water discounts,they have concession in the funeral services with great previlages ,etc.,to name a few. Thus overall this act has brought a great relief and comfort in all aspects of senior citizen life.

2.The rights of senior citizen in Philippines are

  • They have a discount of approximately 20% in VAT
  • 20% tax exemption if they buy any immovable assets
  • 5% discount in electricity and water charges until 100kw and 30cubic units respectively
  • Free entertainment visits to theater once a day, for five days a week
  • Health care discount rights
  • 5% exception in case of groceries
  • Social pension every month
  • They can buy medicine by authorization sign with ID card through others if they cannot go and buy it .

3.Some of the ways to alleviate depression in older adults are

  • Encourage them to do physical activities
  • Introduce them to social platforms to exchange their information regarding the health and vice versa
  • Relaxation techniques like massage,breathing exercise ,yoga ,meditation,etc.,
  • Encourage them to participate in social support group
  • Go for spiritual visits
  • Holidaying, travelling if healthy and can go alone

  • Encouraging the family members to take care if the elders to kick out depression as a whole
