Explain how a health care organization could or did get impacted by a type of security and the implications to the organization. How would you prevent this from occurring at your organization?
According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, safety and security are basic needs of human beings. Security could be hampered by physical factors, threats to information and personal security.
1. Physical Threats:
It could be from external factors such as environmental changes and disasters and internal factors such as fire or electric short circuits, injury from falls due to slipping or tripping, back injury due to long work durations.
These factors could be prevented by continuous quality checks, frequent audits and risk assessment of structure, process and outcomes of various areas within the organization.
2. Threats to information:
This is another major issues due to alarming number of cyber crimes assessed through poor password security and lack of maintaining confidentiality while saving vital documents.
These problems could be prevented by having frequent training programs on information management system and cyber security and strong system password for safe storage of documents.
3. Threats to personal security:
This could be due to the inter personal conflicts, any sexual or physical abuse or harrassment. All staffs of the institution must be aware about their duties and scope of practice so as to stay within the limits of hierarchy. Communication skills and soft skills training is a must in every organization to improve safety and security culture.
