Ans) The ASA Crosswalk is a tool that provides anesthesia coders with a comprehensive list ofCPT codes that help link to the corresponding anesthesia codes. An additionalpublication is used in conjunction with CPT modifiers and the crosswalk book called “RelativeValue Guide”.

- This guide contains codes for anesthesia services and the base unit value for eachanesthesia code.

- The purpose of the RVG is to compare the complexity of various anesthesiaservices so that the relative value of each service, when compared with all services, may beassigned. By using the formula in conjunction with CPT modifiers, it enables the anesthesiacoder to accurately code the highest base level for submission since only one anesthesia CPTcode can be billed.
