Answer #1

Given, MgCl2, is supplied as a 50-mL vials, concentration of 20% (w/v)

20% means 20 g per 100 mL

So, 50 mL contains 10 g

1) Number of millimoles calculation

Molecular weight of MgCl2 is 95.211 g/mol

Number of moles = 10/95.211= 0.105029

Number of miliimoles = 105.03 mmol

2) Number of mEquivalents

mEq = mmol x valency

Here, valency of Mg is 2

mEq = 2 x 105.03 = 210.06 mEq

3) Number of milliosmols

Milliosmols = Total number of dissoiciable particle x millimoles

mOsmols = 3 x 105.03 = 315.09 mOsmol

pipette 50 ml of the approximately 0.004 M potassium permanganate solution to a 250 ml conical flask. Note that this time the permanganate is added to the contents of the flask by pipette rather than from the burette - the principle being that it is present in excess so that the pink colour shou ld remain strongly after the nitrite addition . Q. When a pink aqueous solution of potassium permanganate, faintly acidified with dilute sulfuric acid was treated with 10% aq. hydrogen peroxide, the reaction took place with the evolution of gas bubbles, and the pink solution was turned colorless. Further chemical analysis revealed that the evolved gas was oxygen, and the resulting solution contains potassium sulfate and manganese (II) sulfate; water was also formed during the same reaction.
