Answer - When child enter in room with choking, following step should take -

- Firstly assess the unconsciousness of the child or check response.

- If child is unconscious, then open the airway, tilt head and chin lift.

- Assess the breathing pattern or check any foreign obstruction in airway.

- Provide ventilation and relive obstruction by abdominal thrust maneuver and give back blow.

- Abdominal thrust maneuver :- first lying behind the child,kneel at their feet, place heel of one hand on another on between umbilicus and xiphoid process or give five to ten abdominal thrust in and up With heel of bottom hand repeatly and also give 5 back blow.

- After the hemlich maneuver procedure, observe the mouth and remove the obstruction.

- Again ventilate the child

- repeat the sequence again

Abdominal thrust maneuver or hemlich maneuver technique should be immediate and very fast. Approximate complete the step within seconds or approximate 15 to 30 seconds.

Choking prevention and teaching points for parents such as following -

- Teach the parents to observe their children what they eat.

- Always make sure that they are eating food in proper position and eat food in sitting position.

- Don't talk with your child during eating

- Always keep food pieces small, which easily intake by child.

- Teach them to avoid whole nuts

- Keep away such items from children - small toys, coins, small jewelry etc.

- Teach the parents that always be careful during purchasing toys which have small parts. And make sure that no any small part with toys.
